Mindfulness has also awakened the interest of sport in recent years.
Mindfulness is a form of attention management, where the attion consciously be drawn onto the present moment and the associated sentations, thoughts and feelings. The contents of the stream of consciousness should be accepted with a value-free attitude. Mindful athletes show a higher psychological flexibility and have therefore advantages at coping with stressful situations in every day life and during competitions.
This lecture will explain main terms of mindfulness.
Furthermore, central theories concerning mindfulness as well as results of mindfulness interventions in sport are discussed.
Finally, the special qualification of the method as sport psychological training in childhood and adolescence is going to be displayed.
