Objective:

By the end of this talk you will be able to understand not only what happens to the gymnasts’ hearts while practicing but also the adaptations that occur following many years.

Overview:

We have heard about several heart conditions, issues and heart attacks that happened to people in our entourage. Unhealthy heart conditions could occur to people with very low level of exercise (sedentary) and/or with top level athletes. The questions to ask are:

  • How much pressure gymnasts’ hearts could take while being upside down, rotating around the bar, while holding the cross at the ring or while twisting?
  • How do gymnasts adapt at the long term?
  • Which is the most stressful event on the heart?

This lecture will reveal some of the mysteries around the cardiovascular system of these athletes, a MUST attend lecture
